Because there is a lot of software for MySql.

You have a choice also.

You can install and use MySql or you can install something that allows you to use DB2 while your applications think it's using MySql.

Subject: Saw something weird on a customer box

While scanning through a customer's libraries, to see if they had any
email-sending product installed, I noticed a library called ZMYSQL.

What is this? MySQL for AS/400? Why would one even need such a thing,
with DB2/400 built into the firmware?
