I asked this a few months ago and didn't get much response - maybe some new people that are familiar with the topic??

We use STRAFPU to create lines and boxes on an INVoice page; AFP source is named OVL_INV. This builds a new member in a physical file AFPSRC with a member named OVL_INV.

After creating the source with the editor, a *OVL object is created named OVL_INV_OBJ.

Aldon supports promotion of the *OVL object just fine (OVL_INV_OBJ) .

But they don't seem to have a method to promote the source (OVL_INV).

Aldon claims it is NOT source because the PF type is not *SRC (like it would be for CL or RPG). Of course it is source, but that is just semantics.

Instead the FILETYPE is *DATA.

Aldon suggested using their *RCDS (Records object). I think this is meant for sub-setting a group of data records by key; for example customers 100000 thru 300000.

However, the first requirement for using *RCDS according to Aldon doc is that the file must be keyed - which seems to eliminate its use for AFP source (which is arrival sequence).

Other people MUST be using AFP source and also using Aldon LMi. AFP is the most popular graphics engine, and Aldon is a popular life cycle tool.

Has anyone found a method of promoting AFP source thru Aldon?

Thanks!
