Current status:
I used the Linux screens to install each disk one at a time. Using
"Installing the disk drive using Linux" of
http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/powersys/v3r1m5/index.jsp

Using Chapter 3 of
http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/systems/hardware_docs/pdf/231327.pdf
I then started the utility to format them for raid (68% complete).
After that I will try adding them to an existing raid set using "Adding
Disks to an Existing Disk Array". If it won't let me because I put in 6
drives at once then I will use "Creating a PCI-X SCSI RAID Disk Array".
