I agree with and endorse David's concept of detailed source code archiving.
for that past eight years, my home-grown implementation was to archive the "before" source and the "after" source to each project library.
Each project-code-change library contains all the CL, RPG, DDS, DSPF, etc., changes with "before" and "after" code.
A simple PDM option 54 to compare new-to-old.
This enabled me to track code changes without cluttering up production source with commented-out lines of code.
Don't comment out lines. Delete them.
