team ) has already stated IBM has no current plans to replace the Apache... 


Thanks for sharing that. Tim Rowe replied to a Digest, so his message was not logged with the original thread. Due to the market and mind-share that Apache HTTP Server holds, IBM would really need to demonstrate extreme technical advantage if they were ever to attempt to replace it.

What I would like to see would be support for a Web Sockets API within Apache. Web Sockets has become a browser standard, but you have to pair with a separate TCP/IP server. Some IBM i implementations pair with Java-based Web Socket servers. But it would be better if Apache provided an interface.
