+1 with Tommy. You may wish to run the select in debug or use some of the
other tools to see what, if any, indexes it recommends you build.

An index, unlike a view, will do order by, and offers some select/omit
capability. But I do not think it will do the joining and whatnot you
want to do. Mainly the select/omit capability was to allow DDL to replace
a vast majority of the simple DDS files commonly seen.
