Don - if you want to know about COMMON's efforts to work with local user groups, contact Ian - I think he can tell you who is working that now. By rights it probably best fits the Community and Networking pillar, but it has been discussed some in Leadership & Advocacy.

Joe,

Add to the list the New England corsortium's conference as well in
Framingham...always a great conference...

Since I'm not as active with LUGs as I used to be I actually have to stop
and think about all these conferences...frankly, I have no clue just who IS
in charge of LUG liasons from COMMON...clearly they're not doing as good a
job as people did back in the earlier days of the LUG committee... :)

Yeah, I'm a little biased... :)

Second Don's note about WMCPA - absolutely the best bang for the buck in the
Midwest. I haven't been there in years, but Jim Buck does a bang-up job
there. Also in the Chicagoland area don't forget the OMNI Technical
Conference (which just happens to be next Tuesday!). Again, I haven't been
in forever but they always have great speakers.

Hmm... I sense a trend... great conferences that I don't speak at... ;)

Larry

Sorry, I forgot to also include Jon/Susan's Summit conference for
developers as well....

Sorry Jon...been up to my keester in B/I and data analytics for the
last year...and just got in... Getting old sucks... :)

Larry,

You may want to double check the actual schedule of this conference.
HISTORICALLY it's had little to nothing for developers, especially
developers on the "I" environment...it's been, historically, heavy
AIX, linux, hardware, hardware and hardware.... If you want anything
for developers and systems admin folks, you need to be sending them to
the main COMMON conference...or to the OCEAN conference....or the TUG
conference....or the Wisconsin group conference....

My company is sending a bunch of us to the IBM Tech Conference in
Florida next month. I usually prefer Common and go there, but it will
be nice to check out the IBM conference for the first time in a while.
Anyone else going to the IBM Conference?

I may go the spring conference...oh...Orlando. Maybe the next spring
conference. Whoops...Anaheim. Maybe Indy. I could get a steak and
shrimp cocktail at St. Elmo's.

If not, why not.

I was able to send someone for the first time in 3 years and he
reported back that attendance was not want it once was.
