Based on conditions, I seriously doubt a new tape drive could ever be
approved. Might even hasten the day the 520 moves out the door.

Get a newer tape drive that a current CE may have had some training on?
That was withdrawn from marketing in April of 2006. IDK what the
maintenance would be on a new tape drive versus that old one. You could
be paying more for crappy maintenance on old stuff.
We replaced our 3590's with LTO many moons ago.

Hey, I know money is a real factor here, but I am just tossing out an
option.

Tape drive display show that this moring, along with "CALL FOR SERVICE".

So, I called in.

The CE who arrived said he had little experience with this unit.

He wprked his way through the trouble tree in the manual. Together, we
loaded and unloaded a tape and ran DSPTAP. All worked well.

Nothing in WRKPRB or SST.

Any thoughts?
