So let's create a table full of 'gibberish'
CREATE TABLE ROB/BS (
MY65535COL CHAR (10 ) CCSID 65535 NOT NULL WITH DEFAULT)

INSERT INTO ROB/BS VALUES('test')

I pull this into Excel and get lots of grief.

So I run this:

create view rob/bsview as
(select cast(my65535col as char(10) ccsid 37) as my37col
from rob/bs)

And that pulls fine into Excel.
