I think you want to look at statistics messages.

I've never seen a *PRINT option for netstat - once in it, you can print
the list, but that doesn't help for batch.

So you're left with a good option - the TCP/IP APIs. One is List Network
Connections (QtocLstNetCnn) API - there are others. This one is maybe
something like NETSTAT option 3 or 6. These put the data into a user
space - easy enough to process.

Not everything is well-suited to put into a database. Actually, XML is
maybe a better way to store some things - but you will likely find some
of this just fine for putting in a file.

Is there any way to netstat in batch to an outfile?

Find the port and IP address in Netstat and then check to see if the

what's happening though.

I guess if you don't see anything going through it doesn't prove it's
not
in use - it only proves it has not been in use while you have been
watching
(can't prove a negative). Conversely if you see stuff going through you
can
conclude it is probably in use.

I am assuming from my answers that you can't use any of the MQ tools to
check this and you don't have anyone you can ask. It would be best to
talk
to the MQ Administrator to find out really.

Thanks Evan I know the port but how should I monitor netstat?

Hi Frank

I haven't done this specifally, and my MQ admin skills are a bit
rusty,
but...

You might be able to see what you want just by hunting through
Netstat,
otherwise, try checking the definition of the queue to establish what
addresses and ports are defined then monitor those using Netstat to
see
if
there is any traffic over them.

Hope this helps.

Hi Folks, is there a way I can learn and verify if an MQ Q is
actually
being used? How have you folks done that?
Thanks, Frank
