What does this mean? I know that hqlinux2:~ # is the command prompt, much
like C:\Users\ROB> is my command prompt in DOS.

hqlinux2:~ # find / -name upsmon.conf
You have new mail in /var/mail/root
hqlinux2:~ #

It took a long time to run before it returned the "You have new mail...".
Does this mean the output is a mail? Or does it mean the command abended
and I now have an exception mail?

hqlinux2:~ # cd /
hqlinux2:/ # cd var
hqlinux2:/var # ls
X11R6 adm cache crash ct db2 games ibm lib lock log mail
net-snmp opt run spool tivoli tmp yp
hqlinux2:/var # cd mail
hqlinux2:/var/mail # cd root
-bash: cd: root: Not a directory
hqlinux2:/var/mail # ls
root
hqlinux2:/var/mail # dir
total 660
-rw------- 1 root root 671195 Aug 2 08:00 root
hqlinux2:/var/mail #

I googled for a comparison between dos and linux commands. I figured out
that to 'type' this file I use 'cat'. I also figured out, with 'date'
that my system is about 8 minutes off. But the entries in this root file
(and it's huge! years of entries) end with one entry from today about
files not found but not the file I am looking for. Some other process is
trying to cat a nonexistant file to itself, plus a suffix of .backup and
the original file does not exist. Not that I care, just to confirm that I
looked close enough at this to see it's not the file I am looking for.
