HATS and web facing have improved over the years. But you really have to
take the initiative to 'webify' a 5250 program to get something that a
user will agree is web based. After all, telnet runs on TCP/IP which runs
over the internet. Does that make 5250 web based? No. And the user
won't think that simply taking your subfile program and running it through
the basics of webfacing is an acceptable browser based interface. You'll
end up spending hours customizing the interface to make it acceptable. You
may as well do it right.
You might want to ask the web400 list if they have any successful roll
outs of HATS/webfacing and also the same for some of the tools that Jon
Paris mentioned.
