Very good. Think of it this way. Which will perform better:
A) One disk controller card. 12 disk drives. Raid 5. All on one host.
Two guested lpars. All three lpars with somewhat equal load. Sized with
proper number of virtual arms. Summary; sharing 12 physical arms.
B) Three disk controllers (and the extra slots to hold them and disk
bays?). 12 disk drives, four on each. Raid 5. Three lpars of somewhat
equal load. Each system has 4 physical arms
A will definitely be cheaper!
