If Javascript had a similar interface to JNI that might work.

What I don't follow is why the ILE call stack can't be broadened to include
an RPG ILE procedure calling a Java function. That is, if such a call is
currently done outside of the ILE call stack.

But we're still back to interpreted vs compiled. Javascript is not compiled it is interpreted on the fly. PHP would have been brought in under the ILE banner if it was that easy.

Since I suspect this is going to turn into another of these "Why doesn't ILE work the way I think it should" discussions I'm going to leave it there.
