Yes you will need both parts of SC1 (*BASE and option 1) and most definitely PASE. If you need them let me know I can get you fully PTFd versions. It is free and part of the OS. When you do an OS load you have to specifically include them, why is a mystery to me, but you do, so I'm not surprised it's not there.

Good morning / afternoon:

I have been assigned to setup SFTP in our iSeries. We are currently at V5R4. During my research and learning about the process, I found several important / interesting links:

a) IBM Software Technical Document: http://www-912.ibm.com/s_dir/slkbase.nsf/1ac66549a21402188625680b0002037e/17c2d734a7a40463862576440045c22e?OpenDocument&Highlight=2,538212497

b) IBM Systems Magazine: http://www.ibmsystemsmag.com/ibmi/administrator/systemsmanagement/sFTP-Tips/

c) MC Press Online: http://www.mcpressonline.com/document-management/techtip-get-secure-ftp-for-free.html

Few questions:

a) The software technical document states that I need to have 2 programs: (((1))) 5733SC1 IBM Portable Utilities for i5/OS *BASE& Option 1 (((2))) 57XXSS1 Option 33 (Portable Application Solutions Environment). However, I did GO LICPGM and used "option 10. Display installed licensed programs" but I do not see any of these two licensed programs. I read that this is part of the operating system. Is this correct?

b) Are there any additional pre-requisites that I should be worried about?

c) The MC Press Online article presents a free product for SFTP from the company Arpeggio Software: anybody had any experiences with this product / company that can share those? I do not want to reinvent the wheel if there if I can "go turbo" with this.

Thank you for your help. I used to be more involved in this but it was many years ago, when I started with the AS400 ages. Now, I am kind of getting back to get exposed more to infrastructure stuff.... Interesting...

Thanks in advance for your suggestions and help.
