I >may< have understood. If so, "OUCH".

Just glad this is not a down system issue. Even with this system no
longer used for new records, it is important that it be maintained -
at least, I am told, for another year.

Slow death spiral.

He is now sending me instructions to get a dump from the front panel.
Is this weird - or what?

You can always call IBM, that's what you pay SWMA for, that said, if you
have the Operations Console code loaded on you PC, and a physical
connection to the LAN console port then you should be able to use the
icon to create a connection. That dialog is reasonably simple although I
can understand some confusion the first time through.

Pete's note are very good to describe what's going on.

I'm still confused. Boss suggests calling IBM. That seems like a
waste of time - unless something on the computer is broken. Which
doesn't appear to be the case.

The LAN Console is established in SST/DST, and not using Devices in
IBM i. Therefore, you need to go into SST and configure the console. The
address that you configure is the TCP/IP address for the LAN Console
Ethernet port on your PowerSystems machine. If this is running, you
should be able to ping this from the PC you are connecting from. Is the
PC directly connected to this port or goes through a switch, you should
still be able to ping it.

The address below of .120 is your PC, and the .12 is the adapter on
your Powersystems that you are using for LAN Console.

Can also ping the pc from the i. Can also ping the console pc

my pc.

System value QCONSOLE is DSP04. That device is VARY ON PENDING.

Where is lan console IP address stored?

Click on "connect" and nothing seems to happen.

Simple question to start:

What is device that is used? Makes me think something is
varied off.
