We send a daily email to ourselves that everything is OK. Staff then get
use to that and if it's not there we know something is wrong.
If you can, create a "beginning of the day email" that shows:
Status of the nightly saves
DSPSYSSTS to show DASD levels
Are there any unanswered messages in DSPMSG QSYSOPR that have not been answered ?
If you capture those attributes in an automated format in the morning, you are golden.
Because now the morning email contains information that staff begin to rely on
-versus-
just the same email every day saying "email system is up".
A year from now, if that email is not sent, noone will probably notice.
