Thanks for the feedback (or most of it, anyway) from everyone who has
replied. I didn't realize their was a WDSCI list. This question would
clearly be more appropriate for that venue and I will repost it there.

For the record, in my company once job titles have been defined they
are seldom updated, so that words that were appropriate when the title
was selected will still be in use even when they are now obsolete. I
am just thankful that the job position hasn't been around so long that
it could have been Abacus Support Staff.
