You can also get a free mail tool from www.arpeggiosoftware.com. It can also bypass the ibm smtp server and send directly to mail servers like gmail, yahoo etc. It supports various authentications, SSL/TLS and START-TLS methods and has it's own inbuilt tls/ssl support (no DCM needed).

Hi, James.

I think I missed this original thread. But if you're getting mail inside
your domain, just not outside, that's a setting with the mail router.

Also, our MAILTOOL software with MAILTOOL Plus totally bypasses the IBM
SMTP server and MSF and also allows authentication, SSL, TLS and a great
debugging system with options to resend single or all emails that possibly
error-ed out.

I see you did download a trial, so feel free to contact me with any
questions. Thanks!

Richard Schoen suggested several alternatives, including JavaMail.

My Fellow Geeks and Geekettes:

Actually, before we switched TO QTmmSendMail, we WERE using JavaMail
(via a kludge that was a maintenance nightmare, as well as being
extremely slow). It was a total mess, converting our Wintouch server
from that to QTmmSendMail, and I would not look forward to converting it
to use something else.

Rob then wrote, regarding QTmmSendMail:
I'll grant you, yes, I've had a lot of issues with it. But it does have
some awesome trouble shooting steps in the Infocenter. And commands like
trctcpapp *smtp are pretty wild.
Now THAT gets my interest.
