This file will be in a directory on the IFS.
I am looking for a way to do this in a batch program on the IBM i.
In windows, double clicking the file will cause it to extract the files.
In a DOS window, I could just enter the file name on a command line and it
would run it and do the same.
Is there any way perhaps using the PASE or QSHELL environment that I can do
the same?

There are CLI switches like /X on many SFX files - try /? in a console
window and see what it outputs for help.
There are many types, so I can't give specific advice without knowing the
original compression util.

All,
Without the use of a 3rd party package, is there any way to automate
this?
I have a client that downloads software updates for a package on the IBM
i
system. Presently, that is done my connecting to a web site and manually
transfer them using FTP.
Thanks,
