There are CLI switches like /X on many SFX files - try /? in a console
window and see what it outputs for help.
There are many types, so I can't give specific advice without knowing the
original compression util.

Without the use of a 3rd party package, is there any way to automate this?
I have a client that downloads software updates for a package on the IBM i
system. Presently, that is done my connecting to a web site and manually
transfer them using FTP.
