Yes, it helps.

It's been ages, but as I recall, if you use journaling WITHOUT commitment control, then the journal management operates in a less-efficient manner (I think it waits for the journal entries to be written before completing the I/O operation, synchronous writes to journal). This feature allows the journal records to be written some time after the I/O operation completes...

I also seem to recall that journaling WITH commitment control was marginally faster than journaling without...

We do not have this product. We do not do High Availability but we do journal every table and have full audit journaling on. Would this still help performance?

Has anyone moved to using SSD drives and if so have you seen any
significant performance improvement by doing so? We are not in need of
additional space (running about 50%) and disk utilization (% busy) is not
extremely high (10-15%). Wondering if a plan to migrate to SSD would be
worthwhile.
