Re: HMC System Plan Question

fixed

If your system is POWER5 then yes you need to move thet 571A and it's associated 2844 between the partitions as needed.

I'm not exactly clear on what you means when you say "HMC System Plan". Perhaps it's just incorrect terminology??

What we normally do is check the box next to the partition that has the resource at this time, then select "Dynamic Logical Partition-> Physical Adapters-> Move" and on the panel that comes up select the resources and indicate the partition you want to move them to. Remember they do need to be varied off on the current partition before they will be allowed to move.

Thank you for your quick responses.

Since this is a dead end. I am looking at the SCSI attachment that is
connected via a 571A-001 card. I see that both P1-C1 are on both LPAR's
when reviewing the wrkhdwrsc *stg command but it has a Tape and DVD
(secondary) on the card.

Therefore, my question is whether I have to keep moving them from one LPAR
to another when needed (using the HMC System Plan)? Or can this been done
some other way? I have very limited knowledge on whether this can be
done.

Orville,

What system unit is this? Generally the DVD is connected to
the RAID
card in the System Unit so you'd need to move that. You might recall
that often Disk Units are attached to that RAID card which makes moving
the DVD problematic. :-)

checked the IBM manual for this device and only found out what location

Known facts:
HMC is at V7R7.4.0.2
System is a 720 (8202-E4B)
Controller for U78AA.001.WZSGK47-P2-D2 is U78AA.001.WZSGK47-P1-C13

Any help would be appreciated.
