(Sorry I saw this unsent from a few days ago....)

I've not seen the 6B26 unless I've created an aggregated line. I suppose it's possible you've restored from or cloned a partition that had an aggregated line? In any case you're not using that so it's likely unrelated to your performance problem.

Now that we've established the use of the 181C for your Ethernet line let's chase that down. I have one customer who had a mystery slowdown on the 181C card for ONLY ONE partition on their server. They switched to the backup port and we never did figure out what the problem was with the original port.

Next thing I would verify, because you are stepping outside the server, is the stats on the switch ports. First verify that the ports are linked up correctly (hopefully Full Duplex and 1Gb speed.) Also check for any errors. If you see lots of errors (nearly any type) on a port that's going to cause lots of TCP retries and slow the throughput dramatically.

A 'silly test' I like to do on IBM i is to PING the other server using the maximum count (999) and frame size (usually 1492). Then check the joblog for consistency and any amount of errors. You should get 999 responses for a local ping! THEN repeat this test DURING the FTP transmission. Given your issue I suspect that you'll see many missed pings during the transfer indicating errors.

LIN02 6B03 Operational Comm Adapter

CMN02 6B03 Operational Comm Port
CMB06 181C Operational Comm Processor

I am NOT using CMB03/LIN04. My line description LANLIN is using CMN03,
not CMB03.
According to my reading, a 6B26 may just show up if your system is
eligible for aggregate ethernet. It does not indicate that you're using
it. So I guess that means that simply putting on the right TR may add
that?

I am also not sharing any ports between lpars.
