Once again, what was old is new again...
My first job was as a batch operator on 2, then 3 Honeywell DPS 6 systems.
The larger one had two 30MB(?) "winchester" hard drives and a reel-to-reel
tape for backup. The two smaller ones had 3 or 4 "lark" drives. The lark
drives had a single fixed disk platter, along with a removable disk platter
in a cartage. Normal operation had temp and other work files on one of
the removable cartridges. But to back up the system, I'd take
that cartridge out and swap in others to which I could copy the data from
the other platters one at a time. :)
