OK, thanks. I don't think expect is running; I think the shell is trying to interpret the commands and can't. I noticed the messages started with line [2] where [1] was the #!/usr/local/bin/expect -f, so it was ignored as a comment. That works when run from a pase shell. No big deal, as I'm going to change a bunch of stuff in how this works anyway. Thanks!

Jim: Good information on job startup resources. My job will run once daily on a job schedule entry, so once I fix the rest to work properly, that's not an issue for me in this case, though it is somewhat relevant to my initial PHP question in this thread.

hi Sean,

No, I don't think this problem has any direct relationship to the issue about descriptors. Your spawn/expect/send commands should all be part of a single script run by the "expect" program, and it appears that they are each being treated as unrelated commands and are being run in separate processes.

I can only assume there's some sort of a bug in your code that's causing this -- and that the bug is causing the shell to misinterpret the commands.

I know I've run the script, so I'm guessing I was in QP2TERM rather

you to solve my problems on this, I was just wondering if your
comment on the stdio descriptors related to the system creating
multiple jobs with one line of spooled output in each instead of one
BCI with all the results.
