INZTAP your tape

Open a shared 5250 console session on the HMC

For a 02:00A.M. system save,
GO SAVE, menu option 20, Define save system and user data defaults

Prompt for commands . . . . . N
Check for active files . . . . N
Message queue delivery . . . . *NOTIFY
Start time . . . . . . . . . . 02:00:00 (not *CURRENT)
Vary off network servers . . . *ALL
Unmount file systems . . . . . Y
(Page down key to set more parameters)
Print system information . . . N
Use system reply list . . . . Y
Spooled file data . . . . . . *ALL
Next,

GO SAVE menu option 21, and press Enter until you
See the saved parameters shown above.
Press Enter again.
A message will display, saying that the Save job has submitted to run at
your scheduled time.
The information will remain on your console.

Leave work at 5PM. Go home.
And because you started your 5250 HMC session in Shared mode, you can
log onto this session from other computers, e.g. your laptop or PC from
home.
Open a shared 5250 console session on other computer(s) and log onto the
session.

Want to disconnect from the shared session?
On the menu bar File | Edit | View | Communication
Select Communication > Disconnect
The magic that enables all of this is a program that must be running in
QCTL subsystem.
