FALSE. I have in fact used that combination for both restores and backups with no switch at all. Not sure where they are getting that.....

According to IBM, the connectivity option for the TS3100 and Power7 are:

8 Gbps fibre channel and 6 Gbps SAS interfaces
LVD SCSI, 4 Gbps fibre channel and 3 Gbps SAS interfaces (LTO-4 FH)

I've been told that the use of a 5735 interface card in the Power7 REQUIRES a fibre switch be used.

Is this the truth?
