Regarding 2), you can inherit the field attributes. What you cannot do is
define a new attribute (eg.,length + 2) for your new definition.
You can:
CREATE TABLE NEWTABLE AS
(SELECT COL1 AS COL1_2 FROM DEF_TABLE) DEFINITION ONLY
You can't:
CREATE TABLE NEWTABLE AS
(SELECT COL1 AS COL1_2 char(length + 2) FROM DEF_TABLE) DEFINITION ONLY
