IMHO the performance of three drive raid sets in the SCSI world doesn't suck, it's looking UP at SUCKS! The first one I encountered was some poor soul stuck with three 140s on a 40MB Cache RAID card. Performance was abysmal....... then the Cache Battery checked out. Definitely Sucked to be them.

but on totally unrelated stuff.

But, there will be those who will argue that someone coming from a S/36
will still notice better performance even with a 3 drive raid set and will
gag at the price of an extra drive when they're only using 30% of their
disk.
