Unique report names or if each report gets generated individually process them inline.

The other option would be to place email criteria in the user defined data fields when generating the reports then extract the data from the user defined data.

We use these techniques heavily in our Email Report Server and Report Splitter products.

subject: spool files - how to select for email

BIGJOB creates 3 different spool files with the same name - CUSTRPT. Today the spool file numbers happen to be #'s 65,66, and 67.

In my email pgm, I can only select *LAST (which would only send report # 67), or I can select a specific #, such as 65 or 66 or 67. But I don't know the number.

What is the best way to handle this?

Name each spool file differently? Then I can name the three files CUSTRPT1, CUSTRPT2, and CUSTRPT3, and select each one.

Or, is there a way to retrieve the *LAST spool file number, and the (*LAST minus 1) spool file, and (*LAST minus 2) spool file?

Or a better method?

I see an API coming my way. Is there a SIMPLE way to do this - ie not using an API?

For example, RTVSPLFA (*LAST minus 2) ?? I have TAATOOLS if that helps.

Thanks
