Fellow geeks:

Under the circumstances, a private response would probably be best, to avoid creating an off-topic thread.

I'm now being asked to look into porting one of our AS/400 apps to AIX on P.

I've managed to get as far as determining that Gnu C is installed on the box to which we've been given access, and I've managed to pull the "Hello World" source into "vi," change the message to "I Like Spam!," compile it, and run it.

But even though I have a Linux box at home, most of my Linux experience has been in GNOME, and the overwhelming majority of my C experience has been in DOS and OS/400 (and some Amiga, almost 2 decades ago).

Are there any AIX gurus on the List, who wouldn't mind giving me a hand?

Can anybody here refer me to a good list for AIX newbies?

Do P boxes have programmatically-readable serial numbers, with a system call analogous to calling our own QWCRSVAL on QSRLNBR to retrieve it?
