Have you gotten the HMC to recognize the 720. I would get it working
bypassing your internal LAN if at all possible, did you setup the HMC for
DHCP or ??

HMC1 port on 720 to ETH0 port on HMC I believe.

Power down the 720, pull the power plugs, run your cat5 cables, plug in the
power plugs, wait about 5 mins or so and you should see the server in the
hmc.

There are better minds than me on this list when it comes to that. But
I'll give it a shot. HEA is Host Ethernet Adapter. T1-T4 are those. And
since it's brand new and I suspect cost more than a can of pop out of the
soda machine I'd call IBM on a whim if you're still stuck. Most customers
don't belittle you for calling IBM and grabbing that life line. They'd
rather belittle you for taking days to get done the 'simple' stuff.

Subject: Configuring Brand New ISeries ASMI / HMC
Sent by: midrange-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx

Hello,

Just got a 720 Power ISeries in yesterday and am having a heck of a time
getting it configured for Operations Console. The box I was using last
couple of weeks is a few years old, so it was a bit different and went
ever
so smoothly.

We can access ASMI, but can't seem to run an HMC device. Have a Neoware
appliance that I've used for my other box, but can seem to get it to see
the new box.
We have the HMC IP's.

I think there is a basic step we are missing. Reading manuals and such,
but
still can't seem to get the Operations Console going.

The manual states to use the 'first port' HEA or C1, but no such label
exists on the box.
We have: HMC1, HMC2, S1, S2, T1-T4.

Not sure I even formulated an intellgent question, but if anyone can point
me in the right direction I'd appreciate it.

Thanks!!
