Pressing need is to support clients. We still have clients on v5r1 that
simply will not (and now, CAN not) move to a supported OS version. They
have long ago bit the bullet and made that decision. Sometimes, having made
that decision, clients end up staying on their old box longer than they
planned to when the decision was first made.

So, I end up using an SQL reference for v5 (published 2002) and then (for
other clients) an SQL reference for v5r4 (seventh edition, published 2006).

Unless you have a really pressing need of being V5R3 compatible (eg., need
to share code), why don't you just use the V5R4 specs? V5R3 (and soon V5R4)
are, after all, already "deprecated"...
