I am trying to do the DBCS implementation and needed some input as i am
sure many of you would have done it

Current situation
we are using 2924 as Primary language
We are running 5250 applications using 24x80 screens using English

All data is Single byte information on displays and in the data base

The Emulators we use are Client Access and Rumba
Operating system level is currently V5R4

Requirement

For proof of concept we wish to call a program from the existing
application that will display a separate window

The program will be passed a string of Chinese Telegraph codes.

The Program will convert the CTC codes to the appropriate UTC-2 code.

The UTC-2 code will be displayed in the window as the appropriate Chinese
characters using a graphics field

In addition Standard English characters will be displayed in separate
fields in the window

The Chinese characters will be output only. Input is not required

The users will not have Chinese keyboards.

Questions

Will 2984 DBCS english support needs to be installed on the system or do we
need to install Traditional Chinese as secondary language?

What are the pitfalls we should be aware of with existing applications when
installing DBCS?

Will DBCS affect existing tables and display files?

Will DBCS affect the way that data is will be stored in existing files
(assuming no change is made)?

Will installation of DBCS require the system to be in a controlled state or
be powered down?

Note that the language of the system should remain US English.

Will user profiles need to be adjusted?

Are there knock on effects with characters such as $£ and # which are
affected by the Host Code page?

Will Client Access/Rumba need to be installed with Simplified or
traditional Chinese capabilities?

Are there configuration guides, Redbooks or Examples for setting up this
situation?
