Hi all,

I'm about to go update a 520 that has NOT been updated at all since
IBM installed it some ages ago. Hmc is at v4 or v5 and fw is 210 or
220.
I have been reading ibm's docs about the upgrade process and
everything tells me to go v6r1.3, update fw to 240_xxx and then go up
to v7r3.5.
I've verified that the HMC can run v7r3.5 (cr3 rackmounted, just like
the one i have in my lab).
I was wondering: Can i just nuke the HMC and install v6r1.2? there is
no special information on the HMC (besides the partition data, that as
far as i know the HMC can recover from the service processor).
If i had a 520 i would test it but right now i lack one.
I would like to shave a few hours and dvd-ram (i'm not sure if they
have the dvd-ram that came with the hmc).
I will make an image of the hdd as it is now, so i wont be backup-less
in case something happens (i've found that having an image of the HMC
is faster for recovery purposes than the dvd-ram + media)

Best Regards,

Roberto
