There's a setting somewhere - maybe in file share definitions - about automatically converting ebcdic to ascii - that might be the reason for the gibberish, especially if you see lots of @-signs - what hex40 is in ascii.

The setting involves specifying extensions that should be converted.

No grief here - just dim memory!!
