The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.

The trick is disk. The HMC will call home fine about card failures and
that ilk, but disk has been an lpar issue. Repaired via SST either via
5250 or iNav. (or iprconfig in Linux).
Think of it this way. You can replace a card using the HMC much like you
can go into STRSST and do it while the system is live. Try to do that
with a disk drive.
It's been awhile since we've lost a disk so I don't have any history to
give you more examples of the lack of error reporting on disk failures to
the HMC.
