I find that standards are only accepted by those were on the standards
committee. Those who were not on the committee, if they can find ANY case
in which the standard must be varied therefore think the standard is null
and void in all cases. For example, if you have a standard where the
user's name appears on row x and column y of a report and they have ever
generated a report (perhaps a W2) where they couldn't follow that, the
standard is now null and void for all cases. Even if a new standard
report is generated and there's nothing but glaring white space where the
user's name should be. So, when the report comes into my building and I
am the only person in the building that week I make an assumption that the
printout was sent to the wrong building. My assumption was proven wrong
and I suffer much derision.
