Try:

cat /fbtest/BIL092423_(etc) | rfile -wbQ -c "ovrprtf qprint splfname(my_print)" qprint

(Of course, replace (etc). I got lazy.) (All of the above on one line.)

Hi Folks, I tried Rfile and all I'd like to do is copy a file in the
IFS file to a default printer file (similar to using cpyf of a PF to
qprint) but when I use this command;

Rfile -r /fbtest/BIL092423_20111202_01_02_TEST.idx I get this
msg;

Rfile: 001-2355 /fbtest/BIL092423_20111202_01_02_TEST.idx is not a
device file or database member.

I tried using CPY but couldn't get that to work either.

ello,
Hi Folks, Merry Christmas/Happy Hanukkah/Happy Holidays!
Anything new in V6R1 to do that?
he ability to wish a merry christmas has been around since V2R1! :-)
eriously, though...
Shell's 'pr' utility doesn't print anything -- it just formats a text
le into pages with page numbers and headings. You probably want
hell's 'Rfile' command, which can direct the output to a printer. You
uld use that with 'pr' together to make a nice printout.
ll of that assumes that your data is a text file. Please do remember
at "IFS file" is very, very unspecific. IFS includes out physical,
gical, and save files... not to mention that it includes stream files
rmatted as sounds, images, videos, and oodles of different document
rmats (Word, Excel, PDF, HTML, XML... I'm just scratching the
surface.)
o it'd be helpful if you told us the specific type of file. Saying
mething like "How do I print a text file?" or "How do I print a PDF?"
at lets us give you much better answers without having to make
sumptions.
ood luck
