Duh, yes there were DVDs. Can't remember if one was bootable. The HMC
rebooted a couple of time during the upgrade.

Yes, I did Save HMC data.
Ah, the recovery media... Not sure we have that. I inherited the job and a consultant upgraded the HMC. I have a USB drive she made with a backup prior to the upgrade. Plus the CDs that she used to do the upgrade.
