No one has mentioned the System i Navigator monitoring capabilities. Even
if you only have one i5/OS machine you have a free monitor system. Expand
Management Central>Monitors>Message there is a sample DASD Message monitor
you can use as an example. You can have it run a program when the
threshold is reached. I have it email a message to me, but it could be any
i5/OS command.

This assumes you already have the IBM i Access for Windows installed. It is
there for 6.1 and I am assuming it is there for 7.1. I believe that I have
started the monitor, then ended and restarted the i Nav session, and the
monitor remains. I use it to have the system notify me when a user has
disabled their profile by too many sign on attempts.

I'd like for recommendations for software that will monitor the system
operator queue and send a text message if a message arrives over a
certain threshold. It will need to run on V7.1.

I'd prefer free but "reasonable" will work as well.
