Bryan,

Mmm. Something I forgot to mention is that you must have active the
journaling of your SMTP server. You can check it using iNav:
(loose translation):
Network--> Servers --> TCP/IP
right-click on SMTP --> Properties. In the first tab (General) there is a
box for enabling/disabling the journaling.

You can find the code in the Journal entry data. An example of a just sent
email:

QTSMTPCLTPQTCP 793121QZMFXLOG8ID 6aaaaaa11101
91314480000000006 *88* DLVED xxx.xxx.xx.x'

'88' means it was delivered.

Remember that you can use an outfile as an output for the DSPJRN CMD.

Thank you Luis!
I don't see any subtypes in my DSPJRN outfile. How do I get them there?
I believe I'm missing a concept here...

(By the way, I gave up searching the Infocenter, Googled "Log entry of
MAIL into QTMSOUTQ", and found what you were referencing right away.
Not your fault - just TMI in Infocenter).

Bryan,

There are a lot of subtypes under the LG entry code in the QMZF journal.
Some of the more interesting are:
96 - Log entry of MAIL into QTMSOUTQ (relayed mail)
88 - Log each successfully send to recipient

Search for a small PDF under the name of "E-mail" in the infocenter
related
yo your OS version. It has a nice overview of e-mail config and a list
of
some of the more used entry codes for the QMZF journal.

A full list can be found under in the Infocenter under the name of "Mail
server journal entries" (at least for V5R4)

I'm trying to prove a negative - that the delays in email delivery to
MS Outlook clients of IBM system i email are NOT being caused by the

Does the fact that a QZMF journal entry exists, and it's not an entry
type ER (error), and the timestamp is much earlier than the delivery
to
the client, rule out the system i?? If not, what is the next "hop",
if
you will, after the MSF indicates something has been sent?
