I never download to the PC. Seems senseless to then take the time to copy
it to the i. I either use the ftp site and then ftp directly from the i
with a script file, or use the media.

There's nothing stopping you from writing up some CL to do the following:
SNDPTFORD PTFID((*CUMPKG *ONLYPRD *ONLYRLS))
INSPTF LICPGM((*ALL *ONLY)) INSTYP(*DLYALL) /* don't forget the DLYALL!!
unless you're not adverse to a surprise ipl */
Repeat for:
*HIPERGRP
*DB2GRP
*BRSGRP
*JVAGRP
*HTTPGRP
*PFRGRP
and any numeric groups that IBM hasn't came up with mnemonics yet. See
also
http://www.ibm.com/s_dir/sline003.NSF/GroupPTFs?OpenView&view=GroupPTFs
Using the mnemonics allows some OS level independence.

Run the INSPTF after every SNDPTFORD.
At the end, schedule your IPL.

At one place I had this on their job scheduler. They also IPLed every
week.
