Pete,

About the only thing you'll find is discussions on IBM i Wait Accounting. Disk I/O is really all about waiting for the I/O. Check out the Systems Management Performance 7.1 book.

Kirk,

Did you come across any documentation that helps sort out the issue? I
set up my JS12 blade almost 3 years ago and I'll admit I wasn't really
paying much attention to performance when I set up the blade because
performance really isn't an issue for me. But I'd like to round out my
understanding a bit more because I would like to add some more drives
and x-blades as well as a few more partitions within each of the
blades. Right now I have just a couple of IBM I partitions and a Linux
partition.

I am sure the good Dr. Franken could fill in the gaps, but I'd like to
do some reading to start with to get the concepts clear. Suggestions?
