I probably should have qualified my "no can do" with the condition "without using a cursor" but I hope it's generally understood that anything you can do in RLA you can do in SQL with a cursor, which you can then encapsulate into a UDF. You might not like the resulting performance, but it can be done.

Right now I'm using V5R3, so I can't give you a working example but,
Couldn't this be done using recursive SQL?

Also, maybe you could write a small UDF that accepts the input date and
number of days as parameters, process your calendar table and returns the
appropriate date.
