We are trying to pass through with the STRPASTHR command:

STRPASTHR RMTLOCNAME(XXXXXX) VRTDEV(QPADEV0001 +

We only have authority to the 3 devices in VRTDEV.

Two users get this:
Cannot select virtual device QPADEV0003 at system XXXXXX

The information from the second-level text that would be shown from a spooled joblog with that level of logging\filtering was omitted. Seems that only the first-level text from an apparent copy\paste from an interactive emulator-session was given; not always helpful to withhold that additional information when asking for assistance in resolving the error being diagnosed by the message.

No indication was given of what if anything was done or found from having performed the recovery steps noted in the CPF8916; i.e. "Recovery: Display the job log for job &5/&4/&3 at the target system for messages that indicate which of the listed errors occurred. Correct the error and then try the request again." Inferring that was not done seems reasonable. Doing just the first step in the recovery might [if not probably, clearly] express the origin of the problem in a manner that allows for a simple command invocation to effect correction.
