Jerry,

You have two drives and they are mirrored. Note the '?' showing next to DD001 and DD002, that means those drives are missing from the configuration. Either they've been removed or they failed.

I'll preface my question by pointing out that last November, before I came
to work here, the company had two disk crashes. The disks were replaced.
If I run a WRKDSKSTS command, I see two [2] disk drives.

Work with Disk Status

Size % I/O Request Read

Unit Type (M) Used Rqs Size (K)

1 6717 8589 76.7 .0 .0 .0

1 6717 8589 76.7 .0 .0 .0

If I run system service tools, I see only two [2] disk drives.

Display Disk Configuration Status

Serial Resource

ASP Unit Number Type Model Name Status

1 Mirrored

1 68-D7A09 6717 050 DD004 Active

1 68-01230AD 6717 050 DD003 Active

UNLESS I print the Configuration report. Then I see four [4] disk units
listed.

DISK UNIT 6717-050 * 68-D7A09 1 L01
DD004 26K5170

DISK UNIT 6717-050 ? 68-0C8779C 1 L01
DD002

DISK UNIT 6717-050 68-01230AD 1 L02
DD003 26K5170

DISK UNIT 6717-050 ? 68-0C8638C 1 L02
DD001

I *think* that the units with the '?' mark (sans The Mysterians) are the
units that crashed last November. Are these truly just phantoms that
someone forget/neglected to remove?

The reason for the question, aside from morbid curiosity, is that the system
is a Model 250, which is limited to four [4] disk units (sans an expansion
unit). I want to add two [2] more disk units (well, not me personally, I
get confused between Philips head and flathead screwdriver). My preference
would be two [2] 17 gb drives, mirrored. Not a great choice, but, since
they decided to defer my proposal for a Power 7 system, I need the space.

Thanks.
