You're a businessman - it's a business decision. Think of it from a
different perspective. If you have multiple plants, like we do, then,
isn't the machine already in the cloud, at least in the remote plants
perspective?
Saves you from:
- Tape handling.
- Infrastructure dealing with power and cooling concerns.
- etc

Do you have good comm? Not only fast, but with alternative routes? We
have wireless towers, fiber connections, etc.

Will the cloud provider keep up to date? Last thing you want is someone
who carves out a small lpar for you on a machine that tops out on V5R4.

Does the provider have the capacity? If you need an additional 2G of
memory and the provider's current machine is topped out, will he be loath
to have to switch hardware if projected additional customers aren't there?
Will he only do so "2 quarters out"?

Are there additional items you want to farm out? Like TSM (Tivoli Storage
Manager) to back up PC's and servers? With them providing you audits of
backups (why hasn't PC0124 not been backed up in 2 weeks?)?

If your backup tapes are 3570's and their machine doesn't have anything
that old, how will you handle that?
