Yes, all the Apache, mysql, etc are on IBM i (V7). With respect to the security discussion in another thread, keep in mind the IBM i environment is the most secureable environment and you do have to make it that way, but that's not hard to do.

The MySQL binaries delivered with Zend Server report as "Ver 14.14 Distrib 5.1.50, for ibm-i5os (power) using readline 5.1"
It has the ibmdb2i binary with it so you can start the DB/2 engine easily. There are some pre-steps so be sure to check out APAR II14442.

If you really need up to date MySQL I would stay with the Linux version. If DB/2 direct access is a bigger requirement, the 5.1.5 version of MySQL does what most folks need it to since backup/restore, journaling, clustering etc are handled by DB/2

The real magic is the ability to use Open Source stuff on IBM i. Zend Server is the starting point for all of that.

I am currently running the JOOMLA and DRUPAL using MYSQL on LINUX on I. I
wanted to install and get MYSQL working on I but when oracle did what they
did recently did not pursue it. Are you running the apache on I for
JOOMLA. Thanks for the information as I see where the VIM on PASE could now
be worthwhile for you based on your additional comments.
